The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued a request for proposals to develop 500 MW grid-connected intra-state wind-solar hybrid projects. The tender has been floated with the additional greenshoe option of up to 500 MW.
According to the tender guidelines, the bidders are required to submit Rs 1.1 million per MW as an earnest money deposit. The minimum size of the single wind-solar hybrid at one site for inter-state and intra-state should be at least 50 MW and 10 MW, respectively. The bid submission deadline is April 4, 2024.
At least one of the project’s resources (wind or solar) must have a rated power capacity equivalent to or exceeding 33 per cent of the total contracted capacity. Projects that are either completed or in the process of being completed, without a long-term PPA with any agency, and those that sell hybrid power on a merchant or short-term basis will also be given consideration for the tender. Furthermore, MSEDCL has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in list I of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Additionally, under the tender, only wind-turbine models issued by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, listed in Revised list of Models and Manufacturers will be allowed. In order to minimise technological uncertainties and guarantee the prompt commissioning of projects, only commercially proven and operational technologies are allowed for implementation.
Recently, in March 2024, MSEDCL issued tender to develop 1,000 MW grid-connected solar project located anywhere in India.
In October 2023, Shakti Pumps announced that it has secured an order from MSEDCL for 50,000 off-grid solar photovoltaic pumps under component B of PM-KUSUM programme, phase III.
