Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has announced the results of its 500 MW/1 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) tender, awarding 350 MW/700 MWh to three bidders.

Sarala Project Works secured 50 MW/100 MWh at a tariff of Rs 249,000 per MW of project nominal power per month. Additionally, Pace Digitek and Oriana Power won 250 MW/500 MWh and 50 MW/100 MWh, respectively, at Rs 254,000 per MW of project nominal power per month each. The selected developers will establish the BESS projects on a build-own-operate basis. These projects will be set up near designated substations across Karnataka to support grid stability and manage fluctuations in power demand. Furthermore, the awarded projects qualify for central financial assistance under viability gap funding scheme.
