Noida, India : Gruner Renewable Energy has appointed Dr. Alok Sharma as Mentor & Advisor (R&D), further strengthening its leadership team as it accelerates its mission of building a technology-driven clean energy ecosystem.

Dr. Sharma is a distinguished energy scientist and industry leader with decades of experience in the downstream energy sector. He currently serves as Visiting Chair Professor at the Centre of Excellence for Oil & Gas, IIT Bombay and Professor of Practice at IIT Roorkee. He holds the position of Senior Vice President of the Hydrogen Association of India, President of the National Lubricating Grease Institute – India. He has formerly served as Director (R&D) and Board Member at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.

A Chemical Engineering graduate from IIT Delhi, Dr. Sharma has made significant contributions to India’s refining industry across process engineering, projects, and production. During his tenure at Gujarat Refinery, he played a pivotal role in establishing India’s first Hydrocracker Unit.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Sharma has led research and development initiatives in hydrogen, gasification, solar energy, biofuels, CO₂ capture, catalysts, and energy storage technologies. He holds more than 60 granted patents in India and internationally.

Dr. Sharma is the recipient of the Endeavour Fellowship Award from the Government of Australia and has received several prestigious recognitions, including the ICMA Award, World Petroleum Congress Excellence Award, FIPI Innovation Award, and CHT Innovation Award for his contributions to indigenous hydro processing technologies and biofuel innovations.

He has also served as a Board Member of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB) and chaired the CII National Committee Subgroup on Future Biofuels: Biofuel Technology and Innovation. A founder member of the Hydrogen Association of India (HAI) and a member of the International Association of Hydrogen Energy (IAHE), Dr. Sharma continues to contribute to academia, policy, and innovation by mentoring startups, guiding PhD researchers, and reviewing leading international journals in hydrogen and renewable energy.

With this appointment, Gruner Renewable Energy further reinforces its commitment to technology, innovation, and sustainable growth as it continues to build integrated renewable energy solutions for India.
