GameChange Solar has secured a deal to supply Genius Tracker solar trackers for four new solar ventures, totaling over 500 MW in Southern Africa. These projects are strategically positioned to bolster the region’s energy supply, particularly for critical mining operations, and aid in diversifying the energy mix for a more stable electricity grid.
Furthermore, three of the projects are situated in South Africa, including one under the Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Program in the Northern Cape, and two private sector initiatives catering to mining operations in the Northern Cape and Limpopo regions.
Additionally, phase 1 of the 185 MW Zimplats solar plant in Zimbabwe, is set to commence power generation by the end of May 2024. These projects underscore collaborative efforts between private firms, government bodies, and energy stakeholders.
