The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh recently. The MoU was signed by ESSCI Chief Operating Officer Dr Abhilasha Gaur and APSCHE Secretary Prof Y. Nazeer Ahammed in the presence of senior officials.

The purpose of the MoU is to launch new age industry integrated programmes in the electronics sector  in collaboration with APSCHE in the state of Andhra Pradesh. These programmes will be “for industry by industry” focused and advanced digital skills learning programmes in emerging technology areas, in collaboration with industry partners, to help bridge emerging technology gaps.

Under the MoU, ESSCI and APSCHE will also establish skill labs, model training centres, centres of excellence in various emerging technologies, conduct faculty development programmes and faculty certifications, and impart training to students and other identified groups on NSQF aligned qualifications and certifications. The MoU also includes provisions for on-job training, internships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities for students, as well as the potential establishment of an innovation, product design, and development centre of excellence (COE) to promote innovation, product development, and start-up ecosystems.

In addition, the MoU aims to introduce degree apprenticeship undergraduate programmes to provide the students with the opportunity to gain practical experience and knowledge in the electronics industry while pursuing their degree.

Dr Abhilasha Gaur, COO of ESSCI, stated that this collaboration will benefit youth seeking careers in the electronics industry. She believes that this MoU will provide a strong foundation for the development of the electronics and IT sector in Andhra Pradesh and pave the way for future growth and success.

“The electronics sector is an integral part of the modern economy, and the demand for skilled professionals in this field continues to grow. The MoU signed between ESSCI and APSCHE is a major step towards meeting this demand and providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the industry. We believe that through this partnership, we can create a vibrant ecosystem for innovation and growth in the electronics industry in the state and country”, she added.

The MoU also underscores the importance of industry-academia collaboration in the development of skills and knowledge. By working closely with industry partners, ESSCI and APSCHE can ensure that their programmes are relevant and aligned with the needs of the industry, and that students have the opportunity to gain practical experience and develop professional networks.
