The Ariguaní Solar Park, planned with a capacity of 200 MW, has received environmental approval from Colombia’s National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA), enabling the project to move forward under the applicable regulatory framework. The project is being developed by Xuenergy FV SAS. It is located in the Los Cerrajones district of the municipality of Chiriguaná in the Cesar department and has 250 MWp peak capacity and 200 MW AC nominal capacity.
The approval follows a technical and regulatory review confirming compliance with environmental standards and proposed management measures. ANLA’s decision was based on detailed environmental and technical assessments, which concluded that the project’s impacts can be prevented, mitigated, and managed through defined measures and a biotic component compensation plan within the Lower Cesar hydrographic subzone of the Magdalena–Cauca hydrographic zone.
Moreover, the project follows a mitigation hierarchy, avoiding environmentally significant natural and semi-natural ecosystems, with interventions limited to pastureland, wooded pastures, and forest plantations. Additionally, community participation within the area of influence has been guaranteed, and the National Authority for Prior Consultation has determined that prior consultation is not required. With this approval, ANLA reportedly concluded 2025 with twelve licensed non-conventional renewable energy generation projects, representing a combined capacity of around 2,326 MW.
