AmpIn Energy Transition has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited for setting up a 6 MW solar project for its Nagpur Metro Rail project. This is AmpIn’s third solar project for a metro rail, after completing similar ventures for Kochi Metro and L&T Hyderabad Metro. The total capacity of the 6 MW project is to be developed in two packages of 2.5 MWp and 3.5 MWp.

The entire capacity would be allocated across 19 locations, consisting of three station track walls, two depot building rooftop reinforced cement concrete (RCC) installations, an admin building RCC installation, and 13 metro station rooftop GI sheds. The solar project is anticipated to save Nagpur metro 41 per cent per unit by replacing about 36 per cent of grid power with solar power. The project aims to achieve a carbon offset of about 7,000 metric tonnes of emissions each year throughout the duration of the project.

In November 2023, AmpIn Energy Transition announced an investment of Rs 31 billion in India’s eastern region (particularly Bihar, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and other north-eastern states).

In October 2023, AmpIn Energy Transition formed a joint venture with Jupiter International Limited for solar manufacturing business in India.
