Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA, a joint venture between Ameresco and SUNEL Group, has secured €303.4 million engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts for three solar projects. These projects have a combined capacity of 466 MWp and are situated in the southwestern region of Romania. The projects will replace coal-fired power generation and strengthen Romania’s commitment to phasing out coal by 2032.
Furthermore, as an EPC contract provider, Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA will manage the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the projects. The projects will consist of over 757,000 fixed-tilt solar modules designed in a manner to maximise energy capture and efficiency. Construction of the projects is expected to be finished in 18 months.
Earlier in July 2024, Ameresco SUNEL Energy SA was the contractor for Lightsource bp’s 560 MWp Enipeas solar project in Greece and was responsible for building the project. The project consists of two clusters: Skopia, a 400 MWp southern cluster, and Kalithea, a 160 MWp northern cluster, with approximately 970,000 photovoltaic modules to be installed.
