Tunisia’s Ministry of Energy and Mines has plans to launch a tender for the development of a 300 MW solar photovoltaic power plant coupled with a 150 MW/540 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in southern Tunisia.
The project, which will be the country’s first utility-scale solar-plus-storage facility, will be developed on a 400-hectare site near Kébili in the Nefzaoua region. The solar plant will have a capacity of 300 MW, while the co-located BESS will provide 150 MW of output and 540 MWh of storage capacity to support grid stability and enable better integration of renewable energy into the national electricity system.
