NHPC Limited has announced the results of its auction for 125 MW/500 MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) connected to the intrastate transmission network in Kerala.
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Opera Energy Private Limited have emerged as successful bidders. NGEL secured two projects with a total capacity of 80 MW/320 MWh—one for a 40 MW/160 MWh BESS at the Pothencode substation at a tariff of Rs 457,000 per MW per month, and another 40 MW/160 MWh at the Sreekantapuram substation at Rs 434,000 per MW per month. Opera Energy was awarded a 15 MW/60 MWh project at a tariff of Rs 438,000 per MW per month. These projects aim to enhance grid stability and support peak demand management in Kerala.
