Scatec has inked a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 120 MW solar power plant named Sidi Bouzid II in Tunisia. The PPA has been signed with Tunisian state utility Société Tunisienne de l’Electricité et du Gaz (STEG). Scatec also inked a joint development agreement, with Aeolus SAS which is a part of the Japanese conglomerate Toyota Tsusho Group, for the solar plant.

Furthermore, the estimated total capital expenditure for the project is €87 million. Scatec will act as the designated engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) provider with an EPC share of approximately 85 per cent of capital expenditure for the project.

Earlier in February 2024, Scatec inked a deal to build a 1 GW solar project to supply clean energy to Egypt Aluminium Company’s facility in Nagaa Hammadi, Upper Egypt. As per the agreement, Egypt’s Ministry of the Public Business Sector announced that the 500 MW solar park will be built in two stages, the first of which will be finished in 18 months after the deal is signed and the second in 24 months.
