Stegra has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uniper to secure a total of 6 TWh of electricity for its plant in Boden, Northern Sweden. The agreement covers a 6-year period ranging from 2027 to 2032, ensuring Stegra has a stable and reliable electricity supply for its operations.

The plant is set to begin operations in 2026 and will play a key role in the production of sustainable steel by using renewable electricity to reduce iron ore into green iron. The electricity will be used to power Stegra’s 700MW electrolysis plant, which is critical for generating green hydrogen.

In June 2024, Uniper and WAP Energia partnered to develop a 600 MW onshore wind power portfolio in Poland, with Uniper overseeing development and financing.
