The Ministry of Railways has released a tender for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 4 MW ground-mounted, grid-connected solar power project at Thivim, part of the Konkan Railway in Goa. The project will deliver solar energy to the Thivim Traction Sub-Station (TSS). This project will operate under a public-private partnership on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis for 25 years. The deadline for bid submission is November 29, 2024. The project is expected to be completed within 180 days. According to the tender guidelines, a deposit of Rs 1.65 million is required from bidders.
To qualify, bidders must demonstrate experience with grid-connected or offgrid solar projects totaling at least 1 MW within the last seven years. The ministry will accept work experience certificates from government or semi-government bodies, public sector undertakings, public listed companies, or private entities. Additionally, the average annual group financial turnover of bidders should be Rs 300 million over the last three financial years, ending March 31, 2024.
In April 2024, Southern Railway issued a request for proposals (RfPs) for the installation of rooftop solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 1.2 MW. The estimated cost of the project was Rs 169.8 million, being situated at various locations in Perambur, Chennai. According to the tender guidelines, a deposit of Rs 1.28 million was required from the bidders.
In January 2024, Railway Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL), a collaboration between Indian Railways and RITES Limited, issued a tender to procure round-the-clock (RTC) power from 695 MW of grid-connected renewable projects, with or without storage.
