Sempra Infrastructure has placed a turbine order with Vestas for the development of the 319 MW Cimarron wind farm in Mexico. The Energia Sierra Juarez Wind Complex, which will have a 582 MW installed capacity overall, is currently in its third phase. The deal covers the delivery and deployment of 46 V163-4.5 MW turbines and 18 V162-6.2 MW turbines.
Furthermore, Vestas will also supply a 10-year service agreement (AOM 5000) at the end of the project, optimising energy production while ensuring long-term business case certainty for wind farm operations. Turbine delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Earlier this month, Vestas confirmed a conditional agreement to provide turbines for Equinor’s 810 MW Empire Wind 1 project. This project was successfully rebid in New York’s fourth offshore wind auction in February 2024 and announced a conditional winner by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
