wpd, in cooperation with GPSS Group, has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nomura Real Estate Development Company Limited for the Higashi Izu Furusato onshore wind power project in Japan. The project is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, around 120 km southwest of Tokyo, on a coastal mountain ridge. The wind farm will have a capacity of 7.48 MW and scheduled to begin operations in May 2026.

The electricity generated, along with associated certificates, will be supplied to Nomura Real Estate via NF Power Services Company Limited, as per Japanese law. The power will be used to provide carbon-free energy to Nomura Real Estate’s new headquarters in Tokyo. Higashi Izu is wpd’s first Asian wind project outside Taiwan to reach grid connection.
