Waaree Energies Limited has commenced trial production at its 5.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Chikhli, Gujarat. The plant is part of Waaree’s strategy to achieve backward integration within the solar energy ecosystem. By focusing on indigenous solar cell manufacturing, the facility aims to reduce reliance on imports, mitigate costs associated with global supply chain fluctuations, and enhance India’s position as a leader in clean energy production. The high-efficiency solar cells produced at this facility are expected to meet rising domestic demand while strengthening India’s presence in international markets.
In the same month, Waaree Energies won an order to supply 150 MWp of n-type TOPCon bifacial glass-glass solar modules, rated at 585/590 Wp, for a renewable energy project in India, with delivery scheduled for the financial year 2025-26.
