Van Phong 1 BOT thermal power plant goes online in Vietnam

The Government of Vietnam has launched the Van Phong 1 BOT thermal power plant in the central province of Khanh Hoa to supply an additional 8.5 billion kWh of energy annually.

The project is funded by Japan-based Sumitomo Corporation.  The project comprises two turbines which generate 1,432 MW of electricity. The plant is developed at a total investment of USD2.58 billion is constructed under a BOT contract by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and will be handed over to the Government of Vietnam after 25 years of operation.
