THDC India Limited has signed a MoU and power purchase agreement with the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited. The agreements pertain to the supply of 184.08 MW of clean power from the variable speed Tehri pumped storage project (PSP) in Uttarakhand.
The agreement is intended to meet Gujarat’s peak-hour electricity demand and facilitate large-scale integration of renewable energy into the state’s power grid. Moreover, it is positioned to support grid balancing operations, especially during peak demand periods, through a reliable hydropower-based mechanism.
In April 2025, THDC India Limited synchronised the first 250 MW unit of a 1,000 MW PSP at Tehri, Uttarakhand, in pump condenser mode.
