Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has secured a letter of award (LoA) from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the development of a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Maharashtra.
According to the LoA, the original contracted capacity is 200 MW, combined with a greenshoe option of an additional contracted capacity of 200 MW. The expected date of completion of the project is 24 months from signing of the power purchase agreement between TPREL and MSEDCL. The electricity generated by the solar and wind energy hybrid project will be supplied to MSEDCL and aid the utility company in meeting its energy needs sustainably and enhancing Maharashtra’s renewable energy portfolio. With this addition, TPREL’s total renewable energy capacity has increased to 10.5 GW with 5.7 GW of projects in various stages of implementation. Its operational capacity has reached 4.8 GW, comprising 3.8 GW of solar and 1 GW of wind energy projects.
In July 2024, TPREL signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NHPC Renewable Energy Limited for the installation of rooftop solar projects on government buildings across central ministries, states, and union territories as part of the PM Surya Ghar Yojna scheme. In December 2023, TPREL signed a power delivery agreement with Force Motors Limited and Jaya Hind Industries to deliver clean power for 25 years as a part of group captive scheme.
