SAO PAULO, Brazil- Sungrow, the global leading inverter solution supplier for renewables, unveiled that its cumulative shipment to Latin America hit 9 GW at Intersolar South America 2022 this week. The Company also debuted its “1+X” Modular Inverter, the SG350HX string inverter as well as the new commercial and residential innovation, fueling the energy transition and improving the grid stability and power supply resilience.

Unleashing the potential of solar in LATAM

Latin America is a promising region for solar power. Sungrow leads the growth trajectory and the market development with a new record of 9 GW shipments, while last year’s 5 GW local milestone is still in sight.

The primary momentum is in Brazil, which is one of the top five global solar market prospects over the next five years. Sungrow surpassed its 6 GW cumulative shipments in Brazil and has been in first place in market share since 2019.

As the future of solar looks promising in emerging regions including Colombia and the Dominican Republic, Sungrow expands its low-carbon footprints in these countries and offers products and services efficiently.

Leading innovation in both large-scale and distributed solar development

Technological innovation plays one of the key roles in robust achievement. Tailored to utility-scale applications, Sungrow rolled out its “1+X” Modular Inverter at the expo. The “1+X” Modular Inverter will lead the next generation of PV plant development. The product features a 1.1 MW single unit as the minimum, and the maximum capacity can be expanded to 8.8 MW by combining eight units. Customers can choose from 1.1 MW to 8.8 MW based upon their specific project requirements. The “1+X” Modular Inverter redefines both the “string” and “central” inverter. Furthermore, it is a groundbreaking innovation that will shape the future of energy as it incubates more possibilities for different stakeholders.

The SG350HX, a latest 1500V string inverter optimized for Brazil’s utility-scale projects, was also displayed. The product, rated at 352 kW, is equipped with 16 MPPTs and is in compliance with large-format modules and tracking systems. These features guarantee an incomparable return on investment for stakeholders and leadership in safety.

In addition, Brazil’s solar PV distributed generation (DG) is expected to experience a strong growth curve, especially after the approval and official publication of a long-awaited DG law (Law No. 14,300/2022) that indicated more certainty, stability, and transparency to the market. Meanwhile, the surging demand poses evolving requirements on inverters including compatibility with large format modules, and optimized safety and yields. As a result, Sungrow updated its commercial inverter series ranging from 25 kW to 110 kW and the brand new three-phase residential hero SG15/20RT-P2. This premium inverter portfolio features a higher operating current and is compatible with large-format modules. They are also equipped with enhanced safety protection and are more convenient to install, operate, and maintain.

Preparing to power the future

As the market leader, Sungrow tops global PV inverter shipment with 47 GW delivered in 2021, proving a competitive global performance in the projects it supplies. Apart from the commitments in the PV sector, Sungrow also offers industry-leading energy storage systems to tackle the volatility and intermittence of renewable energy, ensuring a sustainable clean energy future.

The cutting-edge liquid cooled energy storage system, the PowerTitan was introduced and garnered much attention onsite. Due to its optimized temperature cooling technology and intelligent cluster controller design, the PowerTitan is expected to offer more profitability for stakeholders and secure competitiveness in the market.

“2021 was a record-setting year for Sungrow in Latin America, as we embraced a significant leap forward due to the continued dedication and the region’s growing demands. We’re ready to embrace more opportunities and challenges that will take place in these vibrant Latin American countries with cutting-edge solutions as well as professional and responsive 24/7 services,” said Ada Li, Head of Sungrow Latin America.

When talking deeply about the future, Li stated that Sungrow will contribute to green manufacturing and operation and engages in international sustainability initiatives RE100 and EP100. These factors reinforce its commitment to use 100% renewable energy across the entire value chain and improve energy productivity by 35% by 2028. “We look forward to a net-zero carbon future, that is what our team stands for and strives for, every day,” Li added.
