SSE Thermal and EET Hydrogen have joined forces to build a green hydrogen production facility in North West England. The facility is named as Gowy Green Hydrogen. They have started work on the project at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
The initial 40 MWe facility will provide hydrogen to local industries. Gowy Green Hydrogen could begin operations as soon as 2028, with feasibility studies already completed, and design and site investigations underway. Further, a planning application is expected in 2025, with both companies set to make a final investment decision afterward.
In August 2024, SSE Therma and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), via its Copenhagen Infrastructure IV (CI IV) fund completed the construction and initiated operations of 60 MWe Slough Multifuel project. It is a Waste to Energy plant situated in Slough, England.
