NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has signed MoU with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) for the advancement of renewable energy projects and green hydrogen derivatives, with capacities reaching up to 25 GW and 1 million tonnes, respectively, within Rajasthan.
With an ambitious vision for 2032, NTPC aims to boost its non-fossil-based capacity to constitute 45-50 per cent of the overall portfolio. This expansion plan includes reaching 60 GW in renewable energy capacity, ultimately achieving a comprehensive portfolio of 130 GW.
In March 2024, NGEL entered into a joint venture agreement with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited to undertake the development of renewable energy parks in Maharashtra.
In February 2024, NTPC Limited issued a tender for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 26 MW floating solar power project. The project will be located at reservoir 1B of NTPC sipat thermal power plant in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
