NLC India Limited has signed power usage agreement with the Telangana state distribution companies for 200 MW of solar power. This agreement has been signed under the CPSU scheme for a period of 25 years.

The solar project is estimated to generate 13 billion units of green energy in its lifetime. This will help offset 9 million tonnes of carbon emissions. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by June 2025. The two main advantages of this project are that it will supply cheaper green energy and help the state of Telangana meet their renewable purchase obligations.

In March 2024, NLC India Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NLCIL inked a power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited for a 600 MW solar project. Further, in the same month, NLCIL signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rajasthan government for formation of joint venture to set up 125 MW lignite-based power plant and 1,000 MW solar power plant.
