Results for NHPC’s auction to develop 1,500 MW of inter-state transmission system connected wind-solar hybrid power projects have been announced. The tender was issued in November 2023. The projects will be set up anywhere in India. By quoting Rs 3.48 per kWh, Juniper Green Energy has won 150 MW. While Energizant Power (O2 Power) and Avaada Energy have won 300 MW and 510 MW, respectively, by quoting Rs 3.49 per kWh. Of the total tendered capacity, only 960 MW was auctioned.

The declared annual capacity utilisation factor (CUF) should be at least 30 per cent. The winning developers are required to maintain annual CUF ranging between 90 per cent and 120 per cent of the declared value. Furthermore, NHPC has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Additionally, under the tender, only type-certified wind-turbine models issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, listed in Revised list of Models and Manufacturers will be allowed.

In February 2024, NHPC Limited issued a tender to deliver power from 1,200 MW inter-state transmission connected wind projects, tranche II. Six states—Tamil Nadu (500 MW), Andhra Pradesh (250 MW), Maharashtra (200 MW), Telangana (100 MW), Madhya Pradesh (100 MW), and Karnataka (50 MW)—will share a total capacity of 1,200 MW for injection at ISTS substations.
