Korys has increased its ownership in Virya Energy to 70 per cent by acquiring an additional 30 per cent from the Colruyt Group, amounting to approximately €600 million in equity value. With this stake, Korys aims to support Virya Energy in advancing its growth plans, focusing on sustainable energy solutions like hydrogen, wind, solar, and e-mobility. Despite the transaction, Virya Energy and the Colruyt Group will maintain their collaboration on energy transition initiatives, including the shared goal of achieving zero-emission goods transport by 2035.

Virya Energy was founded at the end of 2019 by Colruyt Group and Korys and is based in Belgium. It is active across the entire value chain of sustainable energy. This includes the production of green energy in Europe through its subsidiaries Eoly Energy and Eurowatt, in Asia through its subsidiary Sanchore and a majority stake in Constant Energy, and energy distribution through its subsidiary DATS 24. The company is also involved in the development of sustainable hydrogen projects through Virya H2.
