Hygenco Green Energies and Ameropa have signed a term sheet for the potential supply of green ammonia from its forthcoming green ammonia project in India. Hygenco is set to produce green ammonia from its upcoming project located at Gopalpur port in Odisha. The initial phase, which has a production capacity of 600 tonnes per day (TPD), is expected to commence commercial operations by 2027. Phase 2 will expand the capacity to 1,200 TPD by early 2028. The project is projected to achieve its maximum production capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per annum of green ammonia by 2030.

Hygenco is in the process of developing several green hydrogen plants in India and intends to invest $2.5 billion in green hydrogen and green ammonia projects over the next three years. Hygenco and Ameropa aim to initiate green ammonia exports to Europe and Asian markets, prioritising the development of a reliable supply chain. They seek to capture a significant portion of the expanding global low-carbon ammonia markets.
