Gentari Renewables India Utilities 2, Juniper Green Energy, EG Energy Development (Enfinity Global), Sunsure Solarpark RJ One, and Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra) have won SJVN’s auction for 1,200 MW of Interstate Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects in India (Phase III). Gentari, Juniper, EG Energy, and Adyant quoted Rs 3.19 per kWh to secure capacities of 400 MW, 300 MW, 300 MW, and 70 MW, respectively. Sunsure won 130 MW of its quoted 150 MW at the same tariff using the bucket-filling method.

The tender was issued in July 2024, and SJVN will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders. The generated power is intended for sale within India through an intermediary procurement arrangement, with no central financial assistance provided. The projects are expected to utilise established technologies to minimise risk and ensure timely commissioning.

According to the tender’s requirements, bidders needed to offer a minimum of 50 MW for ISTS-connected projects, with at least 33 per cent of the total capacity coming from either wind or solar and a maximum capacity of 400 MW. The wind turbines must be type-certified models listed in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)’s Revised List of Models and Manufacturers, and the solar photovoltaic modules must be included in MNRE’s List-I of Approved Models and Manufacturers.

In October 2024, Hero Solar Energy, Ganeko Solar (Zelestra), Juniper Green Energy, ReNew, and Avaada won SJVN’s auction to supply 1,200 MW of firm and dispatchable power from ISTS-connected renewable energy projects with energy storage systems under tariff-based competitive bidding (FDRE II).
