Cadiz and RIC Energy have partnered to establish a green hydrogen facility at Cadiz Ranch in the Mojave Desert. Under this agreement, Cadiz will provide land and water resources to support RIC Energy’s production of 100 per cent green hydrogen, powered by solar energy. This facility will leverage the Cadiz Ranch’s intersecting rail lines, pipelines, and interstate highways to distribute green hydrogen to Southern California for zero-emission vehicles and power generation.
Plans outline a fully off-grid, self-sufficient green hydrogen production facility powered by photovoltaic (PV) solar on up to 3,000 acres of Cadiz Ranch land. Upon reaching full capacity, the facility will produce up to 50,000 kg of hydrogen daily, supporting zero-emission transportation and other Californian industries transitioning from fossil hydrogen. Plans include on-site electricity storage, as well as equipment to compress and liquefy the hydrogen for rail or road transport.
The Cadiz location also has the potential for future hydrogen pipelines to the Los Angeles area. Cadiz will supply up to 500 acre-feet of water annually, with the option to power its water and groundwater banking operations through the generated green hydrogen and solar energy.
