Amazon has announced investments in three new wind energy projects across India. The projects include a 100 MW wind farm at CleanMax Koppal in Karnataka, a 99 MW wind farm at BluPine Solapur in Maharashtra, and a 180 MW wind farm at JSW Energy Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu.
These projects will contribute to India’s renewable energy targets while creating employment opportunities in their respective regions during the construction phase. With these additions, Amazon’s renewable energy portfolio in India now includes 53 solar and wind projects. These projects collectively generate more than 4 million MWh of carbon-free energy annually, sufficient to power over 1.3 million Indian homes. Amazon’s renewable investments in the country comprise nine utility-scale solar and wind farms and onsite solar installations at 44 local buildings supporting its operations.
In August 2024, Amazon India and Gentari Green Mobility India announced a fleet management collaboration to deploy electric vehicles across multiple cities, supporting zero-tailpipe emission deliveries, with Gentari procuring and managing EVs for delivery service providers; currently, Amazon has over 7,200 EVs in India and aims to expand its fleet to 10,000 by 2025.
