Powered by Nanotech Energy’s graphene-based electrodes and proprietary non-flammable electrolyte – Organolyte™ – the new lithium-ion batteries can be fully customized to fit any form factor or container, which eliminates the need for OEMs to redesign existing products or compromise new ones. The non-flammable battery packs can be used to power electric vehicles, bikes and scooters, consumer electronics, military equipment and other devices and machines that are – or will soon be – electrified. The global renewable energy market is expected to reach $1.1 trillion U.S. dollars by 2027. Industry convergence is accelerating due to an increasing number of government-backed renewable energy policies and goals, the electrification of transportation and industrials, and oil and gas companies’ increased participation in the electricity value chain. Furthermore, the demand for improved battery performance is expected to increase from 185 GWh in 2020 to over 2,000 GWh by 2030.
Increasingly, lithium-ion battery fires and safety issues are among the leading barriers to an electric future. Nanotech Energy’s Graphene-Organolyte™ batteries demonstrate more than 1400 cycles (nearly 10 years) of use for 80% cut-off, compared to a traditional lithium-ion battery’s 300-500 cycles (about two to three years). Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, Nanotech Energy’s batteries also maintain performance even during extreme temperatures and weather conditions (-40°C to +50°C / -40°F to +122°F), and decrease charge times significantly with options for more sustainable models that are easily recycled.
