Green Energy gains greater representation
Five of the nine Energy and Green Energy names in the Top 200 are classified specifically under Green Energy. Their presence across ranks 18, 91, 164, 176 and 188 provides a snapshot of the expanding entrepreneurial base emerging around India’s renewable-energy transition.
The representation includes businesses associated with renewable power generation, solar energy and related clean-energy infrastructure, highlighting the increasing scale of India’s clean-energy economy.
The trend also reflects the broader transformation taking place in India’s wealth landscape, where traditional sectors are increasingly being joined by new and emerging industries driven by technology, infrastructure, manufacturing and the energy transition.
A changing energy landscape
The presence of both established energy conglomerates and renewable-energy entrepreneurs in the Hurun rankings illustrates the breadth of India’s energy economy.
While the largest fortunes continue to come from established energy businesses, the presence of five Green Energy wealth creators among the Top 200 points to the growing economic significance of renewable energy as an entrepreneurial and wealth-creation opportunity.
The latest Hurun ranking therefore provides a snapshot of an energy sector that is expanding beyond conventional power and hydrocarbons towards solar, renewable generation and the broader clean-energy ecosystem.
The M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026 ranks 1,810 individuals with wealth of ₹1,000 crore or more, while the number of US-dollar billionaires in India has reached 391.
