NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has secured 200 MW/800 MWh of standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity at a discovered tariff of Rs 435,000 per MW per month in the e-reverse auction conducted by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL). The tender covers the development of 500 MW/2,000 MWh of standalone BESS capacity in West Bengal through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
In July 2026, NGEL decided to raise Rs 25 billion through the private placement of unsecured non-convertible debentures. The debentures will carry a coupon rate of 7.27 per cent per annum, have a tenure of 10 years, and are proposed to be listed on the National Stock Exchange.
In June 2026, NGEL announced the commercial operation of a third tranche of 50 MW solar capacity, taking the cumulative commissioned solar capacity to 250 MW out of the 300 MW solar component of its 200 MW renewable energy round-the-clock project in Rajasthan.
