The consortium consisting of TotalEnergies, Toyota Tsusho, and Altaaqa Renewable Energy has commenced commercial operations of its 112 MW solar project located in Wadi Ad-Dawasir, Saudi Arabia. The facility was constructed by SEPCO, a subsidiary of Power China, and achieved commissioning in July 2025. The project generates enough power to supply electricity to more than 15,000 households.
The generated power is being delivered to the Saudi Power Procurement Company under a power purchase agreement (PPA). Furthermore, it forms part of Round 3 of the National Renewable Energy Programme, overseen by the Ministry of Energy, which focuses on lowering the use of liquid fuels in the power sector. Moreover, the programme aligns with the objectives set under Vision 2030 to expand renewable energy capacity, including battery storage, to around 50 per cent of the national generation mix by 2030, subject to demand requirements.
Earlier this month, TotalEnergies signed a 15-year PPA with Google for the supply of 1.5 TWh of renewable electricity from its Montpelier solar farm located in Ohio. The solar project, which is nearing completion, is connected to the PJM grid system and will support Google’s data center operations in the state.
