The Department of Energy, Government of Bihar has signed four MoUs with renewable energy and pumped storage companies to develop 2,357 MW of green power projects. The projects involve an estimated investment of approximately Rs 53.37 billion. These agreements were formalised during the launch of two state policies, the Bihar Policy for Promotion of New & Renewable Energy Sources 2025 and the Bihar Policy for Promotion of Pumped Storage Project 2025. The policies aim to promote renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, biomass, green hydrogen, and pumped storage systems.

Reportedly, the Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited signed an MoU with Larsen & Toubro to establish a 116 MW/241 MWh battery energy storage system in Kajra, Lakhisarai, involving an investment of Rs 8.37 billion. Another MoU was signed with NTPC Green Energy Limited for the development of a 1,000 MW battery energy storage system, estimated at Rs 15 billion. Additionally, the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) partnered with Avaada Group to set up 1,000 MW of ground-mounted and floating solar projects, subject to feasibility. BREDA also signed an MoU with Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited for floating solar and other renewable projects worth Rs 30 billion.
