China Announces 25 GWh Battery Energy Storage Auction to Boost Grid Resilience

China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) has launched an auction for 25 GWh of lithium-iron phosphate battery systems. The tender launched by CEEC is structured into three packages totalling 25 GWh. It covers systems with durations of one, two, and four hours.

Package one consists of one-hour systems with a capacity of 3 GW/3 GWh. The bids for one-hour systems ranged from  CNY 0.673 to CNY 0.89/Wh, with an average bid of CNY 0.7863/Wh. The second package consists of two-hour systems having capacity of 6 GW/12 GWh. The bids for this package ranged between CNY 0.416 to CNY 0.5764/Wh. Furthermore, ten companies submitted nearly identical top bids for this package between CNY 0.428 to CNY 0.44/Wh.

The third package consists of four-hour systems with a capacity of 2.5 GW/10 GWh. It had the most competitive bids, ranging from CNY 0.37 to CNY 0.495/Wh, with an average of 0.4249/Wh. The lowest bid for the package was CNY 0.37/Wh. Additionally, over 70 companies submitted bids in the CEEC auction. Companies such as CATL, BYD, Sungrow, and Envision Energy took part in the auction.
