NTPC Limited has announced the auction results for its 1,200 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects (Hybrid 03). EG Solwin Renewables (Enfinity Global), Welspun Renewable Energy, and NLC India has secured capacities of 300 MW, 250 MW, and 450 MW, respectively, at a tariff of Rs 3.35 per kWh each. Adani Renewable Energy Holding Twelve (Adani Green Energy) has been awarded 200 MW at Rs 3.36 per kWh. However, it quoted 600 MW capacity under the bucket-filling method.
The tender was issued in October 2024, and allowed bidders to offer a contracted capacity ranging from 50 MW to 600 MW, with submissions required in multiples of 10 MW. The auction required hybrid power projects to have at least 33 per cent of their capacity from either wind or solar energy, with a maximum limit of 600 MW per bidder.
Additionally, all selected projects must utilise commercially established and operational technologies to minimise risks and ensure timely commissioning. Wind turbines deployed in these projects must be type-certified models listed in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Similarly, solar modules must be from MNRE’s List-I under the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules.
