BHEL Issues EPC Tender for 1.2 GW Solar Projects

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has issued a tender for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of solar projects with a total capacity of 1,200 MW at the Khavda solar park in Gujarat. The deadline for bid submission is March 20, 2025.

According to the tender guidelines, the bidders are required to submit a money deposit of Rs 1 million, along with a security deposit amounting to 10 per cent of the contract value. The selected contractors will be responsible for designing, engineering, constructing, erecting, testing, installing, and commissioning the solar projects, in addition to providing operations and maintenance services for three years. The scope of work also includes setting up an evacuation system up to the project’s terminal point and terminating the 33 kV evacuation feeder at the 33 kV main pooling switchgear.

According to the eligibility criteria, the bidders must demonstrate prior experience in designing, supplying, erecting or supervising the erection, and commissioning or supervising the commissioning of a balance of system for grid-connected solar projects with a minimum cumulative installed capacity of 40 MW. At least one of these projects must have a capacity of 10 MW or more and must have been operational for at least six months. Moreover, the financial eligibility criteria require an annual average turnover of Rs 1 billion for a single block of 300 MW, Rs 2 billion for two blocks of 600 MW, Rs 3 billion for three blocks of 900 MW, and Rs 4 billion for four blocks of 1,200 MW.
