The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has issued a tender inviting bids for the development of 2,000 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar projects with integrated storage facilities. The tender includes provisions for 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh energy storage systems (ESS), which will be awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The bid submission deadline is September 4, 2024. The estimated time for completion of the project is 24 months. The selection for the winner will take place via e-bidding and an e-reverse auction.

The projects can be located across India. The ESS must be co-located with the solar project and adhere to a capacity utilisation factor of 25-27 per cent. The minimum bid capacity will be 50 MW while maximum will be 1,000 MW.  The SECI will sign a 25 year long power purchase agreement with the winning bidder.
