SECI Announces Tender for 25 MW Solar Project with 50 MWh Storage

Solar Energy Corporation of India has issued a request for proposals for a 25 MW solar project, including a 20 MW/ 50 MWh battery energy storage system. The project will be located at Taru, Leh, union territory of Ladakh.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work under the project includes designing, engineering, supplying, construction, erection, testing, and commission, encompassing operations and maintenance. The bidders are required to furnish Rs 74.1 million as an earnest money deposit. The bid submission deadline is May 13, 2024.

SECI plans to fund the project using domestic financing and its own resources. The bidders can qualify by meeting one of two sets of criteria. They will be considered technically eligible if they fulfill the requirements of either route I or route II. In order to be considered for the first and second route, bidders must possess prior engineering, procurement, and construction or turnkey development expertise managing ground-mounted solar projects. In accordance with previous experiences, modules and inverters may be included or excluded from the bidder’s scope. Route 1 covers the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of grid-connected solar power projects with an overall capacity of a minimum of 12.5 MW over the past seven financial years, as of the bid submission deadline. Bidders under route II must have completed a minimum of two grid-connected solar power projects, each with a capacity of 2.5 MW or more, over the previous seven financial years, as of the bid submission deadline. These solar power projects also need to have been running effectively for a minimum of six months prior to the deadline for bid submissions for both routes. Furthermore, SECI has mandated the use of solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
