In response to its global tender for the rebidding of production-linked incentives (PLI) for the production of 10 GWh advanced chemistry cells (ACCs), which was announced in January of this year, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) of India has received seven bids. Against the tendered 10 GWh capacity, proposals for a cumulative capacity of 70 GWh have been submitted by Waaree Energies, JSW Neo Energy, Reliance Industries Ltd, Lucas TVS, ACME Cleantech Solutions, and Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies. The budget for the tendered capacity amounts to Rs 36.2 billion.

To reach an ACC production capacity of 50 GWh, the Cabinet authorised Rs 181 billion PLI Scheme in May 2021. Three beneficiary enterprises were given a combined capacity of 30 GWh after the first round of the ACC PLI auction finished in March 2022. Among the successful companies were Rajesh Exports with 5 GWh, Ola Electric Mobility with 20 GWh, and Reliance New Energy Solar Limited with 5 GWh of incentives. The agreements with these selected beneficiary companies was inked in July 2022.
