Spain-based solar developer-operator Solarpack said on Thursday that it has signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to funnel the output from its 410-MW Gorbea solar farm in India.

Under the terms, Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), a company of the Indian ministry of new and renewable energy, is to be supplied 755 GWh of electricity per year. The supply will begin in 2025.

The Gorbea solar farm will be constructed in the state of Rajasthan. The plant is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 128,000 households in India, Solarpack said.

“With the signing of this PPA, Solarpack demonstrates its ability to be competitive in delivering clean energy around the world and its commitment to building a large renewable portfolio in India,” commented Solarpack CEO Leo Moreno.

The signing comes shortly after Solarpack announced it had secured a 25-year PPA for a different solar mega-project — the 450-MW Anboto — in Rajasthan. Construction of that project and Gorbea will be carried out in parallel.

Solarpack’s portfolio in India consists of 139 MW of operational solar farms. Anboto and Gorbea will boost this capacity to nearly 1,000 MW once they go online in 2025, the company added.
