IGI Airport finding alternative solutions for clean energy

DIAL which operates the IGI Airport is looking at alternative solutions for generating clean and green energy, a top company official has confirmed.

The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), a joint venture which is led by the GMR Group, which operates the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the Capital is looking at alternative solutions for generating clean and green energy, a top company official has confirmed.

Speaking at a virtual event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry-Godrej Green Business Centre (CII-GBC), Videh Kumar Jaipuriar CEO of DIAL, said that “we have set up a new benchmark for our partners and stakeholders to follow. Going forward, we are focusing on energy conservation and exploring alternative solutions for generating green energy.”

DIAL was conferred with the ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit‘ award at the National Award for Excellence in Energy Management by CII-GBC. It was also presented with the ‘National Energy Leader’ award for the year 2020, based on its consistent performance at the highest level in the last three years.

Recently, we had also reported that the Hyderabad International Airport had won the CII-GBC ‘National Energy Leader’ and ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Unit’ award. IGI Airport Clean Energy

Also led by GMR, the Hyderabad International Airport was awarded at the 21st National Awards for ‘Excellence in Energy Management” organised by CII GBC, during the 19th edition of ‘Energy Efficiency Summit”, Virtual Conference and Exposition on Energy Efficiency held from August 6 – 28 2020.

Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, said, “we are happy to receive the award which reaffirms our commitment to make the best use of the energy resources available. As a responsible corporate, GHIAL is committed to exploring and implementing best-in-class energy-efficient solutions.”

“We have been consciously working towards energy efficiency and thus we have introduced several eco-friendly measures with innovative cloud-based landscape irrigation system, real-time energy consumption monitoring, electric-powered vehicles viz. buggies, ground handler vehicles, baggage trolley movers, and e-cars among others to name a few,” he added.
