Uzbekistan’s JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (NEGU) has set a target to transmit 76.1 billion TWh of electricity through its networks in 2025, up from 74 TWh in 2024.
Significant improvements in 2024 included the addition of 543 km of high-voltage transmission lines, 1,627 MVA capacity substations, and repairs to 309 transformers and over 6,400 km of transmission lines. NEGU also connected renewable energy projects to the grid, including 763 MW of solar and 1,500 MW of wind power. For 2025, NEGU plans to invest USD259.2 million in the commissioning of 485 km of new transmission lines, a 500 MVA substation, and additional renewable capacity of 1,350 MW of solar, 100 MW of wind, and 263 MWh of storage. Repair works are set to include the restoration of 316 transformers and 6,029 km of transmission lines, with ongoing maintenance, inspections, and tree clearing efforts.
