Shree Cement joins RE100, aiming for 100 per cent clean electricity by 2050

Shree Cement has declared that it is now a member of the RE100 initiative, a global initiative led by Climate Group that encourages companies to switch to using only renewable energy for all of their activities. The goal is to encourage major companies to expedite the world’s shift to 100 per cent renewable electricity use, along with positive change across the industry and establishing a standard for sustainability in the cement sector.

Shree Cement will focus on building strong partnerships with stakeholders, local communities, and government bodies to tackle challenges and encourage the broader adoption of clean power solutions. The company also commits to transparent monitoring and reporting of its progress towards clean power targets.

Shree Cement Limited, one of India’s top cement groups, is renowned for its outstanding environmental practices, innovative approaches, and cost efficiency. Shree Cement is dedicated to lowering thermal power consumption and raising the use of clean energy. Major investments have been made to broaden the portfolio of wind and solar power with 236 MW of solar and wind power plants installed across India at a capital expenditure (capex) above Rs 10.5 billion. Furthermore, an additional 112 MW of solar power plants are now being installed across five states – Jharkhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. In Rajasthan, plans are underway for 36 MW of wind power projects with an estimated capex of over Rs 7 billion for these solar and wind projects.
