Reliance Industries Limited has acquired Lakadia B Power Transmission Limited, a special purpose vehicle, from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) to implement an interstate transmission system project on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.
The project, valued at Rs 80 million, aims to evacuate up to 3.5 GW of renewable energy from Lakadia, Gujarat. Reliance Industries will be responsible for the design, engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning of the transmission system. The scope of work also includes preparing a detailed project report, arranging financing, managing project execution and surveys, obtaining necessary clearances and permits, and addressing land compensation requirements.
This transmission system will augment the transformation capacity at the 765/400 kV Lakadia substation in Gujarat under Part B of the project. It is expected to integrate 2.5 GW of additional renewable energy beyond the initial 1 GW from various renewable energy projects in the Lakadia renewable energy zone.
