Reportedly, the Odisha government has requested the central government for early approval of Rs 30.69 billion under the revamped distribution sector scheme (RDSS) to strengthen its power distribution network.
The funding is sought for infrastructure upgrades, prepaid smart consumer metering, and system metering, in line with RDSS objectives to reduce aggregate technical and commercial losses across the country. The state also proposed the development of disaster-resilient power infrastructure, including selective underground cabling within 30 km of the coastline, as recommended by the coalition for disaster resilient infrastructure.
