MT Group has partnered with Ørsted to manage the engineering and construction of Balance of Plant (BoP) piping and equipment for a carbon capture project. This contract is part of Ørsted’s 20-year agreement with the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) for the ‘Ørsted Kalundborg CO2 Hub,’ aiming to capture and store 430,000 tons of carbon annually from two power plants. The captured carbon will be transported to Northern Lights in Norway for geological storage, contributing to global climate action.
Furthermore, as part of the contract, MT Group will be responsible for designing and constructing the BoP system for the carbon capture facility. Their role will also involve procuring, supplying, and installing cooling and steam systems, along with overseeing the testing and commissioning of the equipment to meet regulatory and operational requirements before full-scale operations commence.
Earlier in August 2024, Ørsted announced a strategic partnership with Mission Clean Energy to jointly develop four standalone battery energy storage systems in the Midwest. Ørsted plans to provide financial support to secure and maintain interconnection queue positions for the four storage projects, while Mission Clean Energy will retain responsibility for their development.
