Kioxia Group installed large-scale solar power generation systems for the first time at its Kitakami Plant and Yokkaichi Plant in Japan to increase the use of renewable energy. The new solar power generation system installed on the roof of the flash memory manufacturing facility will be the largest solar power generation system among all semiconductor factories in Japan. 1 The solar power generation system has a total power generation capacity of approximately 7.5 megawatts (MW), and is expected to generate approximately 7,600 megawatt-hours (MWh) per year for Kioxia, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 3,200 tons per year. With the new solar power generation system, KIOXIA will accelerate efforts to combat climate change, which is one of the main objectives of the Group’s management strategy.

The solar power generation system at the Fab1 facility of Kioxia’s Kitakami plant has recently started operation, and the system at Fab6 at the Yokkaichi plant will start operation in June this year.

The Kioxia Group has set a goal of using 100% renewable energy, including solar power, by fiscal year 2040. The Group will continue to actively respond to climate change and commit to sustainable development for the benefit of society.
