Hindustan Zinc has initiated the first phase of integrating clean energy from Serentica Renewables’ Bikaner project in Rajasthan. Serentica is providing power to Hindustan Zinc’s operational units in the state. Hindustan Zinc signed power delivery agreements with Serentica to secure 450 MW of round-the-clock renewable energy, guaranteeing operational reliability and sustainability for its main business units. Under the agreement, Serentica has begun delivering clean power from its 180 MW solar project to Hindustan Zinc.

Hindustan Zinc currently has a 40.7 MW captive solar power capacity and relies on conventional fuel sources for its remaining power needs. The renewable energy from Serentica’s project will boost the proportion of renewables in the company’s total energy mix. Covering over 1,200 acres, this 180 MW solar park will provide a steady and reliable supply of green power for operations of Hindustan Zinc. The project will collectively mitigate approximately 2.7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
