Gamuda Holdings Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia’s Gamuda Berhad has signed an agreement to co-develop a 1.2 GW renewable energy portfolio in central Tasmania.

The portfolio will comprise 600 MW of wind and solar capacity, alongside up to 600 MW of battery energy storage. Key projects include the Weasel solar farm and the Cellars Hill wind farm. Construction of the solar farm is scheduled to begin in financial year 2027, followed by the wind farm in 2028. The project is being undertaken in partnership with local landowners, the Downie Family, and renewable developer Alternate Path. It follows a landowner-led model, developed in consultation with the local community and environmental stakeholders. The initiative also includes energy rebates for nearby households and is expected to generate employment in the region. Gamuda will hold an equity stake in the venture and will execute the development under a sole-source EPC arrangement, subject to regulatory approvals.
